In addition to being a replacement for MARC, BIBFRAME serves as a general model for expressing and connecting bibliographic data. A major focus of the initiative will be to determine a transition path for the MARC 21 formats while preserving a robust data exchange that has supported resource sharing and cataloging cost savings in recent decades.
The demo wishes to provide an enterprise level experience of handling, searching and retrieving data and digital content in collections, i.e. libraries and archives, that adhere to BIBFRAME 2.0 standard. Also to depict the ability to extend and customize pre-existing standards. Most relevant for users and cataloguers from the library and archive domains.
Our inclusive approach meets the needs of the print-disabled community. The search (OPAC) and digital item retrieval modules meet the W3C Web Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 level AA. The epub online open-source reader Readium is utilized.
